Our Work
The Story So Far...
The concept of Yorkshire Artisan Metalwork evolved, as over the years, I have done my fair share of “homework jobs” for gaffers, friends and family. With this in mind, I thought the time was right, to set to, in creating and founding Yorkshire Artisan Metalwork.
Having the railway in my blood, my Great Grandfather was a Chargehand Boilermaker, my Grandad was a Signwriter, so it was somewhat inevitable that I was to follow them, as the third generation of Tradesman, to work at the historic Doncaster Plant Works, home of the Flying Scotsman and the Mallard steam locomotives.
I served an old school, 4 year apprenticeship as a Plater, unfortunately, 10 months out of my time in the mid 80’s, there was a massive restructuring within the Railway Industry and redundancy soon followed. Sink or swim time, however, fortunately for me, I had the skill set to survive in uncertain times.
At what seems the blink of an eye, over 40 years have passed, if someone had told me as a 16 year old apprentice, that my work would take me to the other side of the world and back, creating fabrications and teaching in college, I would have thought they were mad!
Everything I create is a reflection of the terrific tradesman and characters I’ve been fortunate to work alongside over the years.
Thank you for your interest and supporting British Tradesmen.
